TYASA (The Youth and Amateur Sports Association) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to support local, community and township-based youth sports organizations.
We are not a league, and we do not govern youth sports.
TYASA exists to better understand the operational realities facing volunteer-led organizations and to explore responsible, voluntary ways to strengthen support structures over time.
Youth sports play an essential role in community life and youth development.
Through direct involvement in local sports environments, it became clear that many organizations face similar pressures:
Increasing administrative demands
Evolving safety expectations
Rising participation costs
Volunteer workload strain
These challenges are not the result of poor intent or lack of dedication. They are often the natural outcome of decentralized growth and limited shared infrastructure.
TYASA was created to begin with listening — not restructuring.
To ensure clarity and prevent misunderstanding:
TYASA does not:
Operate teams or leagues
Replace existing organizations
Mandate participation
Exercise governmental authority
Impose standards or fees
Participation in any TYASA activity is voluntary and based on opt-in engagement.
TYASA is currently in a structured listening and relationship-building phase.
This phase is focused on gathering insight from:
Organizational leaders
Coaches
Parents and guardians
The goal is to better understand sustainability, communication clarity, safety consistency, and administrative workload across local youth sports environments.
No structural programs or governance changes are being implemented during this phase.
Engagement begins with conversation, not commitment.
TYASA operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with:
A defined board of directors
Adopted bylaws and policies
Clear separation between governance and operational activity
Transparency and defined boundaries are foundational to the organization’s approach.
Any future exploration of expanded initiatives would require deliberate evaluation, voluntary participation, and clearly defined agreements.
TYASA is committed to operating within existing legal frameworks and respecting local autonomy at all times.
